Day 13 – Lunch and shopping at Myeongdong, and dinner at Shinchon
Previous: Day 12 – Bukchon Hanok Village, Noryangjin Fish Market and Yeuido tour
People say if come to Myeongdong, must try their dumpling. We walk to the Myeongdong and change some money. Although it is almost near the end of the trip, I still need some cash for shopping at Myeongdong. Myeongdong popular with skincare and cosmetic product. There are lots of shops like Nature Republic, Skinfood, The Face Shop, Body Shop, Etude house, It’s Skin, Missha, Tony Moly, and a lots more. Too much until some of them I don’t recall their name.
We stop by the mobile tourism information to ask for famous Myeongdong dumpling and Free Hanbok trying. They guide us the location and we reach the dumpling house. They call this Myeongdong Gyoza. We stop by and order 1 bowl of noodles and gyoza. It cost around 16,000won (RM32). The dumpling is so delicious that I can’t stop eating it.
After fill up our stomach, we proceed to the Free Hanbok trying. We went there at 5th Floor MPlaza sponsored by Seoul Global Culture & Tourism Center Traditional Costume Experience. They require us to register so we only able to book for slot at 2PM. So after registered, we went for shopping at Myeongdong. We shops lots of items mostly from Skinfoods, Nature Republic, Tony Moly and Laneige. We spend approximately RM2,000 for both of us here. Of course mostly we bought for sisters and friends. The price is so cheap, about half price or more if compare to Penang.
Then after finish shopping, we proceed to take a break at some western cafe shop. We ate some ice-cream waffles and Caramel Latte. Around near 2PM, we proceed to the MPlaza again for the hanbok trying. My wife choose a nice costume where it was worn by high royalty in Joseon Dynasty. I myself accidentally chose the costume of royal guard. What the!! I actually saw the color of the costume which is quite nice and colorful. So I pick this and end up realize it is a guard uniform.
Inside the room, there is this Trick Eye Museum poster for us to take photos. Since I lost the camera containing all the pictures in Trick Eye Museum, at least we got one here.
There are also lots of props that can use for photo taking too.
After finish taking photos, we head back to guesthouse. We pack all the stuff we bought into the luggage to avoid rush on the next following day. After that we took a subway to Ehwa Woman University to tour around for one last time. We ate some street foods and shop around here. Then we walk to Shinchon for “ddakgalbi”. A famous chicken and vege grill. We can choose noodles or rice and with/without cheese topping. We ate at this famous shop name “Chuncheonjip Ddakgalbi Makguksu”. From Sinchon Station (Subway Line 2), Exit 1, turn right onto the first side street (Hyundai Department Store). Then go straight for 130m and cross the street. The restaurant is next to Changcheon Children's Park (창천어린이공원). Exactly at the corner.
The shop open from 10AM – 6AM. Yes midnight is available.
We are very full and also did not take any alcohol this round. We didn’t walk around anymore but proceed back to Euljiro (1)il-ga station. We walk to Myeongdong and do some last shopping as I receive few message from my sister to ask for another few more things. At night, Myeongdong looks really different. There are street stalls open selling lots of stuff. I bought a wallet at only 10,000won (RM30). After done some shopping, we walk back to our guesthouse. On the way we stop by at GS25 to buy some ramen for tomorrow breakfast.
Next: Day 14 – Claim tax refund at Incheon and back to Penang
