Previous: Day 2 (part 2) - Lunch at Tosokchon, Gyeongbokgung Tour, National Folk Museum Tour
We took Line 3 subway and drop at Gyeongbokgung station exit 2. After coming out from the subway, just walk straight all the way at exit 2 all the way until you come across the exit of the underground. You will able to see some cafe shop on the left and Gyeongbokgung on your right. Walk up the stair and keep to the left. Walk straight until you see the 1st turning to the left. From there you can see smaller gate in front. Walk towards the gate and exit. Cross the road and goes right. Walk about 150m and turn left into Jahamun-ro 5-gil road. Tosokchon is just in front across the road.
I manage to find this picture online for the shop looks.
What is Samgyetang? Samgyetang basically is a ginseng boiled chicken soup. The chicken is small chicken (probably spring chicken). They stuff the rice inside the chicken. When we first arrive, we have to line up. It is a long queue but only about 10-15 minutes waiting. Then we head into the shop and start sitting. The staff comes to us and we order 2 Samgyetang. While waiting for the food, as usual Korean restaurant comes with side dishes like kimchi. We ate some kimchi and drink some ginseng wine. The wine is high percent of alcohol, probably 40%?
The picture above I grab from internet. The bowl is big and hot. It taste great and it is something must try when in Korea. Tosokchon famous for Samgyetang and heard to be the most original for century. It cost about 15,000won. After finish the big bowl of Samgyetang, we walk towards to Gyeongbokgung. We proceed to the entrance and head for the English tour at 3:30PM. The tour finish at 4:30PM and we end at near the exit to National Folk Museum. So we proceed to the National Folk Museum of Korea. It is a nice visit at the museum and it is free.
After the visit at museum, the weather is getting colder. We proceed to Gwanghwamun Square to look around.
