Day 3 – Nami Island Tour and meet with our Korean friends

Previous: Day 2 (part 3) - Tour at Gwanghwamun Square and Dinner at Shinchon

Today we are heading to Nami Island or they called Namiseom Island. If you heard or watch the popular K-Drama, you will definitely heard of Winter Sonata. This is a nice place to go regardless any season. Spring, Summer, Autumn or Winter. This is and love island. Best suite for couples.

We start our journey at 10:00AM. We took about 2 hours journey there. Pretty tired. We take Line 2 and transfer at Wangsimni station to Gyeongchun Line. Then at this Line, we transfer again at Mangu station at the same Line. Just transfer platform here. Then we exit at Gapyeong station. Upon exit of the station, we walk straight to the taxi. Here you need to take taxi. Unless you start your journey from Seoul, Insadong. There is bus direct from Insadong to Namiseom jetty. I prefer take subway and train because I’m more flexible with the schedule. The taxi will cost around 3,000won per trip per car. The taxi driver drop us at the jetty and we purchase the ticket. It cost about 10,000won round trip. If you are foreigner, bring along with your passport and you will get 2,000won discount by just showing them the passport.

Alternative, you may take ZipRider to the Island. It cost about 50,000won. You will slide all the way from the top to the island.

Upon getting to the island, we walk towards the right and you will see picture like below. Trees line up with a walkway at the middle. We look around and there are lots of things to see. Too bad the camera is lost. I took tons of pictures here. So sad.

We walk towards along the way and found a restaurant. If you watch “We Got Married” shows of Super Junior Leeteuk and Kang Sora, you will come across a restaurant where they have their lunch there where Kang Sora order Bokbunja to drink. We ate at this restaurant. The food is not cheap but we are hungry after 2 hours of journey to here.

After eating, we walk straight again to the bike rental area. We rent 2 single bike instead of 2 seater bike. The reason each of us able to see better view. If 2 seater bike, the person behind won’t able to see much view. The bicycle rental area require our local IC. They will return the IC to us after we return the bike. The cost about 5,000won per hour. An hour is enough to round the whole island but if you want to stop and take picture, probably 2 hours is best recommend.

We walk around to find the statue below.

Nearby the statue, we see a place with lots of stone stack up like below. The stone actually work like this from what I heard. You find a group of stone and begin stacking up. When you stack the stone, begin to make wish. Stack as high as possible. Then the last stone that you decided will be the closing for your successful wish. If you successfully stack all the stone include the last stone you decide, your wish will come true. If the stones falls, then your wish won’t come true. At anytime during the stacking if your stone falls, the wish will not come true. The higher it goes, the better the wish will come true.

Around 3:00PM, our Korean friend call me. He want to meet up tonight for dinner at 8PM. We tour around the island until 5:00PM and ready to head back to Ehwa. We took a taxi to jetty and head to the train. From the Gyeongchun line, we do the same, transfer at Mangu, then transfer at Wangsimni station to Line 2 and back to Ehwa station. The moment we arrive, our friend is waiting outside the guesthouse. We pass him the souvenirs we bought from Penang. My colleague also ask me to pass him the Ipoh White Coffee and I pass him Tongkat Ali Coffee. I heard from my hair stylish, also a Korean guy at Prima Tanjung. His shop name Park Jung Ho Hair Saloon. He told me that Korean people like Tongkat Ali Coffee.

After meeting him, we eat at Ehwa. We ate a bowl of chicken spicy stew with noodles. I forgot what it call but it is quite spicy and very delicious. After finish, he bring us to eat tteokbokki, odeng and tempura. It was very nice too. We chat a lot and ate very full that night. He drive back around 10:00PM. We are very tired and proceed back to the guesthouse as tomorrow we will be heading to Jeju Island!!! Je..ju!! Je..ju!!Je..ju!!
